A historic view on Toyota

Toyota's core models range consists of the Yaris, Auris and Avensis, its respective offerings in the supermini, family hatch and medium range segments. If you're after a solid and reliable used car, these Toyotas will do the job. Below the Yaris sit a pair of city cars with a little more pizzazz in the design department. Pre-owned versions of the Aygo and iQ are in strong demand on the second hand car market with good reason. If you need a large MPV, there are still some 7 and 8-seater Previas about, cars that tend to go on as long as Toyota's durable Land Cruiser 4x4s. Used second hand versions of the RAV4 compact 4x4 are also well worth a look. The Toyota Prius is the car that popularised hybrid technology in the UK market and while the prospect of buying such a complex vehicle second hand will deter some, the signs are good for its long term reliability. There are significant running costs savings to be made by those who do take the plunge and buy a used Toyota Prius.
