Despite being more readily associated with huge SUVs and pick-up trucks across the pond, Chevrolet's British operations were adapted to fit in with European tastes - and fuel prices. The brand was launched on these shores in 2005, so anyone looking to buy a used Chevrolet should limit their search to that date, although venturing further back might turn up the odd Blazer, Corvette or Camaro that entered the country by unofficial routes, although a few of these were officially imported at the turn of the century. The Matiz city car, Kalos supermini and Tacuma MPV had all been sold previously in the UK badged as Daewoos. They weren't the most sophisticated products but the price was right and so were the equipment levels. They are available very cheaply on the used car market. The Lacetti family hatch was available as a Daewoo only very briefly and is a more rounded product that's a good value second hand car. More impressive still is the sizable Chevrolet Captiva launched in 2007 and based upon the Vauxhall Antara. As pre-owned compact 4x4s go, this one makes a lot of sense and the seven-seat option adds extra practicality. The Cruze saloon is another recent Chevrolet model that makes good financial sense as a used second hand buy. Launched in 2009, used Cruze examples aren't too thick on the ground though.
